"Actually, I'm glad you're here," Caleb smirks. "Gives me a chance to ask you properly for your daughter's hand in marriage. So what
do you say, Dad? Aren't you going to welcome me to the family?"

As Kevin glowers in fury, Caleb's eyes sparkle with devilish delight. Smiling with ironic charm, Caleb goads Kevin to the breaking point. "So, if you're willing to give Olivia and me your
blessing, I'll be willing to give your daughter a wonderful life," Caleb offers.

"'Life?'" Kevin scowls. "You mean a living nightmare."

"Aren't you just a little ray of sunshine," Caleb teases.

"All you bring to my daughter's life is a world of pain and grief," Kevin bristles.

"Whatever happened to 'congratulations, Caleb,' 'best wishes, Caleb?' Your daughter knows who I am, and she still wants me. Maybe even
more," Caleb adds with a shrug. "Go figure."

"She doesn't want you," Kevin replies. "All you've done is manipulate a naive young girl."

"Oh, she's not a girl. She's a woman in every sense of the word. Her sense of passion's amazing," Caleb notes with admiration and
desire.

"Passion?" Kevin scoffs. "She's in some kind of trance."

"No. No, she wants me, body and soul," Caleb says, his voice full of desire, taunting Kevin with lewd insinuations.

"You shut your mouth or I'll shut it for you," Kevin yells, ready to explode with fury.

"Ah, what's that? What's that?" Caleb laughs. "Is that murder I see in your eyes? You see, I know all about you, Doc. Didn't you have a brother that had a nasty little habit of doing too much
killing? Maybe I'm the one that should be worried about marrying into your family."

"You don't know anything about me," Kevin seethes.

"I know all about Ryan," Caleb smiles. "That's child's play by my standards. What I'm trying to say to you is you are in way over your head."

"Really?" Kevin remarks.  "As far I'm concerned, one psychotic is the same as another. First, you enjoy inflicting pain."

"Excuse me," Caleb interrupts. "Are you going to be charging for this session, Doc?" His air of smug confidence and sarcastic detachment is beginning to disappear.
"And then you delude yourself by justifying your actions," Kevin continues, speaking with the insight gained from personal experience.

"I can give Olivia all the pleasures in this world and the next," Caleb replies, becoming defensive. "Now, tell me, what father wouldn't want that for his own daughter?"

"This father!" Kevin shouts as Caleb, losing his patience also, looks exasperated and angry. "You think you're living the world's greatest love story?"
"I have a gift," Caleb replies in a soft voice. "What can I say?" He looks at Kevin with an expression of childlike innocence in his eyes. As Kevin perceptively notes, Caleb does believe he is "living the world's greatest love story." Idealistically clinging to his faith in soul union and eternal unconditional love, Caleb sees his passion for Livvie as destined, karmic, unwavering. He convinces himself and Livvie that theirs is a romance that transcends all limitations.
"Yeah, I've seen what that gift can do," Kevin points out. "I saw what it did to the first Olivia. You kind of bring new meaning to ending a relationship, don't you?"

"The last time was different," Caleb explains, a pained look on his face. He clenches his mouth as if trying to remain in control.
"You killed that girl because she couldn't stand what you are," Kevin snarls. "You'll destroy Livvie the same way you destroyed her."

"Now it's you who doesn't understand me!" Caleb yells, erupting in anger.
