As Jack, in the monastery basement, surrounded by artifacts of Caleb's first love, closes Caleb's journal, Caleb and Livvie at the Villa try to put aside the past and plan their future. Having told Livvie his terrible secret, Caleb prepares himself for rejection again. "So, do you want to leave?" he whispers. "No, I want to thank you," she says, putting her hands on his. "Thank me?" "For trusting me enough to tell me everything," she explains. "You're not afraid?" he says, surprised. "No, Caleb, I'm not like her," she assures him, stroking his hair this time, nurturing and soothing. "I know exactly what and who you are, and I don't care. I want all of you, all of what you've shown me our life together would be like."
"You really mean that?" Caleb asks. "With everything I am," she replies. "I cannot imagine my life without you." "Olivia," Caleb exclaims, tears in his eyes. "Marry me. Marry me on Friday." She nods her head.
"Yes?" he murmurs. "Yes," she repeats, as Caleb tenderly embraces her. "I am going to give you everything you ever dreamed of," he promises. "And I'll try to be patient," she adds, as they temporarily seem to reverse roles, she now the impatient seducer and he the hesitant innocent. "It'll be worth the wait," Caleb vows. "It'll be worth it. I'll make all the arrangements. You're tired. You should get some rest. You have made me so happy. I never thought I could feel this way again." "I won't let you down, Caleb. I promise," Livvie says as they hug each other protectively.
Later, sleeping alone on the terrace, Livive has a dream. In this dream she and Caleb are in the Villa. They are married, and she awaits the union that will make her his forever.
Gently, he places a white silk blindfold over her eyes, as if she were undergoing a magical erotic initiation rite, a virgin ready to be sacrificed as she poises on the threshold of a new realm of sensory experience. He kisses her neck, tempting and soothing. "Take me, Caleb," she moans, "Drink from me now."
But when the blindfold is removed, Caleb has been replaced by Jack. Whereas previously, with Jack, she had dreamed of Caleb as her lover, here she imagines Jack taking Caleb's place. Livvie's dream illustrates Livvie's hesitancy, inability to make decisions and commit herself to one lover, problems she will continue to face throughout the subsequent Port Charles arcs.
