| "Yes," she admits.
"That's how I feel about you," he explains, fighting back tears. "You'll just have to forgive me if sometimes my emotions get the better of me." "I know what you want, but you have to understand that for me to leave my family and the people I love . . . " she hesitates, looking torn and desolate. |

| "The same people who've disappointed you time and time again," he adds. "Olivia, I know you have a difficult decision to make. I know because I've been where you are. I know how hard it is to turn away from all that you've believed in, to turn away from all you thought your life would be. And right now you've got to feel like you're about to step blindly off some precipice. But if you take that step," he swallows, gaining hope and confidence in his vision, "if you take that leap of faith I promise you you'll see that you can fly. You'll experience the impossible. And I want to show you that." |
| In these inspiring words Caleb seems very similar to his Father
Michael aspect, a preacher urging a troubled soul to have faith.
What can Caleb be referring to in this emotional speech? What
happened in Caleb's past that wrenched him away from all he believed
and forced him to confront a terrifying, exhilarating frontier of
possibilities? Is he alluding to being turned into a vampire and
having to forsake all his human dreams for the limitless yet lonely
vistas of vampire existence? The mysteries of Caleb's past are never
fully explored. Although later Port Charles arcs reveal how Caleb
became a vampire, there are many questions forever unanswered.
As she listens to Caleb's plea to break free of the past, Livvie sadly shakes her head, unsure. "I don't know," she says, almost sobbing. |
| Caleb gently turns her around to face him and looks deep into her
eyes. "Tell me what will make you most happy, no matter how
unattainable. Tell me, Olivia, and I will give it to you." He
puts his hands around her face, cradling it. "Tell me what you want
more than anything."
"I don't know." Livvie persists. "Yes, you do," Caleb smiles. "OK," Livvie hesitates, "if I did, if I told you . . ." "What?" Caleb whispers. "Oh, never mind," she says tearfully, like a lost little girl who has given up on hope. "You couldn't do anything to make it come true. No one can." "I can do anything," Caleb replies, eager to create a world in which their most fervent dreams can at last come true. "You must have to trust me," he whispers. "I'll tell you one thing I always wanted," Livvie shyly reveals. "A normal family, the kind that sticks together and takes care of each other." "I've always wanted the same thing," Caleb agrees,"to feel like you're part of something, to feel that kind of love. But you know-- we can have that together." He takes her hand and they sit back down together on the cushions. "You and me. Neither of us has to be lonely ever again. Just give me a week. Let me show you." "But how can a week change anything?" Livvie asks, wanting to believe but afraid of being disappointed again. "Lives can be changed in a moment," Caleb murmurs, a tear spilling down his face, making him look even more beautiful and soulful. "In the span of one kiss." He kisses her sweetly. "Just be brave. Just let go of everything but this moment. Let go," he whispers again," and tell me everything you want." |
