| ********************************* As Jack writhes and snarls in an electrified cage, confined by his brother, Caleb calmly, tenderly, and patiently seduces Livvie, awakening her to never experienced sensory delights. Throughout this episode these two contrasting worlds are juxtaposed--Jack's absurd torments and imprisonment while trying to resist his vampiric nature and the beautiful, romantic realm of delight Caleb promises Livvie if she surrenders to his charms. At the beginning of the episode we see Livvie, in a flowing white gown, awakening in a lovely, softly sunlit room. Like her gown, the room is classically, elegantly feminine. It is reminiscent of the apartment in the vampire movie "The Hunger"--18th century in style, restrained yet relaxed, spacious, suggesting eternity, serenity, gentle sensual beauty. Caleb in these scenes likewise demonstrates his gentle sensuality as he restrains his impetuous passions, subdues his inner beast, and sweetly, delicately romances Livvie. |

| As Livvie walks over to the billowing white curtains and looks out the window, Caleb, approaches slowly, standing behind her. "Welcome to our home, Olivia," he says. When Livvie, dazzled by the beauty surrounding her, asks what he means by referring to this place as their home, Caleb tells her, "I planned it with you in mind. I tried to think of the things you might like." |

| "It's amazing," she says, her eyes wide with awe.
"I thought you might think so," Caleb replies "But how did I get here?" she asks. "The last thing I remember is being on the roof of my father's lighthouse." "You were very upset," Caleb relates, "and you fainted. It was best to get you away from there. I wanted to bring you somewhere away from anything that would bother you." "Here," Livvie says softly. "Where I can take care of you," Caleb continues. "Well, my father thinks you're a killer," Livvie admits. " And Jack, he says . . ." "What does Jack say about me?" Caleb smiles mischievously. Livvie licks her lips, biting them nervously, reluctant to say what Jack has told her. "That you're, you're a vampire." "A vampire?" Caleb again smiles impishly. "How dramatic. He really said that?" "Then it's not true?" Livvie's voice is shy, unsure what to think. "People always fear what they don't understand, Olivia," Caleb explains, avoiding a direct answer. "Is that what it is then--fear?" Livvie asks. "Look at me," Caleb softly urges her. "Do I look like some kind of monster to you? [Livvie shakes her head.] Have I ever hurt you? Are you afraid I would ever hurt you?" Livvie again shakes her head, this time more firmly, convinced in her heart that Caleb would never hurt her. "I'm not afraid," she asserts. "Good," Caleb murmurs. As Caleb touches her face, she yields to him, leaning against his hand as if craving his loving caress. |

| "But we don't know each other. Not . . . not really," Livvie
hesitantly protests.
"Oh, I got started on things long before we even met," Caleb explains. "That's what happens when souls are one. Do you like it?" |
| Later Caleb brings in a silver tray of food--delicately arranged so
as to tempt the appetite and delight the eye. "I thought you
might be hungry," he explains, placing the tray on the floor. He is
bare foot, looking relaxed and at ease, yet masterful, the perfect
host.
"Do you know everything about me?" Livvie wonders. "Right down to the anchovies," Caleb answers. "You've gone to so much trouble for me. Why? " "You still don't know, do you? Do you remember what I told you?" Caleb reminds her. "The night we first met?" "That I was your future," she recalls. |
