"I was waiting . . . Waiting for the right time . . . The right girl.  Don't you see, Michael?" Caleb tries to explain. "All I want is what everybody else already has. A family to call my own."
"We have each other," Michael reassures him.

"Oh, that is SO comforting," Caleb exclaims sarcastically, rolling his eyes.
"A normal family life. It's not for you," Michael admonishes him.

"What is? Hmmm? Extinction?" Caleb bristles. "I'm the last, Michael, thanks to you and your celibacy thing." [Michael, as usual, looks rather embarrassed when Caleb mentions Michael's priestly vows.] "It's up to me to keep the bloodline alive."
"And I think it should die," Michael says, standing up again. "What happened to you is a terrible thing. But it has to stop."

"I WILL have this family," Caleb promises. "I WILL have Eve's baby as my own."

"And I won't let you," Michael answers, starting to walk away, as if dismissing the conversation.

"Oh, you're jonesing for Eve, aren't you?" Caleb says, his eyes flashing with sudden insight, as Michael stops in his tracks and looks back at his brother in shocked surprise.

"I am a priest," Michael reminds Caleb in a soft, stern, yet hurt voice.
"You're also a man," Caleb scoffs. "Well you know . . ." He makes a crude expression of scorn and waves his fingers from side to side, implying perhaps that his brother is only half a man, while Michael looks down in embarrassment. "I say go for it, Bro. Man, you don't know what' you're missing."
"I will not let you talk about Eve this way," Michael says with chivalric bravado to Caleb's mocking face. "I know what you are, Caleb. And I know how you've suffered. But I beg you, stop this before you lose whatever trace of humanity you have left."
