Gabby's all-consuming infatuation with Caleb, Lucy's growing psychic forebodings, and Jack's desperate plan to keep Livvie safe are the focus of the next episode.

As Jack and Jamal discuss vampirism, Jack vows to use deadly measures to protect Livvie from Caleb, even suggesting that he let himself "cross over" and kill someone in order to become a full-fledged vampire capable of perhaps destroying Caleb.  Jamal tries to persuade Jack to use other methods because, as Jamal points out, if Jack becomes a vampire, then even though he might save Livvie from Caleb, Jack will have lost any opportunity to live his life with her.  He also informs Jack that since, according to vampire lore, vampires cannot kill in the presence of someone they love, perhaps Livvie could play a key role in Caleb's destruction.  Jack, however, refuses to use Livvie as "bait" and remains determined to kill "someone who has it coming to 'em" just so that he can cross over and gain the vampire strength necessary to defeat Caleb.  Jack here shows his lack of moral scruples and foresight in his impetuous, jealousy-driven scheme. Even though he stubbornly refuses to join Caleb's ranks as an initiate, he is willing to become what he presumably hates in order to keep Livvie all to himself and out of Caleb's grasp.

Gabby, meanwhile, has totally succumbed to Caleb's irresistible gifts.  He is constantly on her mind, invading her thoughts, tempting her with tantalizing desires always just out of reach.  At work, her mind wanders and she, like a schoolgirl, finds herself dreamily writing his name over and over on a piece of paper in a medical chart.  Just as she is being assigned to the blood bank, she runs into Karen and Frank and drops the papers containing her lovelust scrawling.  Glancing at the chart endlessly scribbled with the name "Caleb," Karen laughingly remarks, "Gabby, I'm sorry, but isn't this a little junior high?"  When Gabby rather defensively tries to elude their prying questions, Karen and Frank back off slightly and express interest in meeting her mystery man someday.  Telling them that "Caleb likes to be alone" and "we mostly hang out at my place," Gabby manages to temporarily escape their scrutiny but not their curiosity.  Later on, after Gabby leaves, Frank and Karen, together with Ian and Eve, discuss Gabby's strange romance.  "Gabby's been bitten by the love bug," they chortle, as they celebrate Eve's pregnancy and speculate that Caleb is a married man who is merely using Gabby for his own pleasure.

While Jack plots against him and Gabby obsesses over him, Caleb devises his own plan to gain access to Livvie.  Knowing that Livvie is staying with Kevin and Lucy, Caleb shows up at their house and rings the doorbell.  Lucy, still engrossed with her Tarot cards and vague omens, runs to answer the bell, but as soon as she sees Caleb standing in the doorway, slouching against the door frame and staring at her with a cold yet nonchalant, sullenly seductive expression, she feels a sense of danger.    "I'm lost," Caleb begins.  "Do you think maybe I could come in and look at a map?"  His face in this scene is inhumanly beautiful and alluring--the epitome of feral grace and brooding menace combined with the fierce innocence of a fox or panther.  Even without physically entering the house, he has already, with his body language, claimed it as his own, draping himself over the door, marking it as his territory.    Sensing something uncanny and ominous about him, Lucy refuses to let him in and shuts the door.  There is fear in her face, surprise and also perhaps a bit of fear in his.    As Lucy babbles to Kevin about her eerie encounter with this stranger, Caleb heads over to Gabby's to try another approach in gaining access to Livvie.
