| “Just let it be, Tess,” he laughs rather dismissively. “Don’t fight it, not here. Not in this place . . . It’s too powerful. It’s where Olivia and I became one, where we were joined for eternity as husband and wife. So while you may not want to be here, Olivia does. She wants to come back to me. But you don’t need me to convince you of that.” He smirks. “Olivia herself will be more persuasive.” |

| “Where are you going?” she demands in a panicky voice as he, still facing her, still capturing her in his gaze, walks backwards towards the door.
“To leave you alone with your memories. Yours and Olivia’s. Then we’ll see how easy it is for you to keep her buried inside,” he explains with a smug toss of his head before vanishing. As Tess wanders through the Villa, Livvie’s memories, suffocated and suppressed by their vigilant guardian, rise to the surface. The silken curtains, like graceful, welcoming fingers, beckon to explore the darkness beyond their ethereal caress. Caleb waits for her in that thrilling, unhallowed darkness. “Are you ready for me, Olivia?” he asks. “Tonight’s a special night. Tonight you’ll know who I really am. Are you ready, my love?” |
