| "The Gift" #7 (cont.) “Speaking of fighting,” he interjects, wanting to divert her attention from the muffins, “you and Alison were going at it pretty good.” “I know, honey,” she acknowledges. “Don’t say it. This was definitely the worst one of all.” |

| Warning her that the “the worst one is going to be the last one” and there are to be “no more fights,” Caleb briefly mentions the truce with Rafe, the agreement to avoid contact whenever possible. “Rafe and Alison are going to stay on their part of town,” he explains. “We’re going to stay on ours, OK?”
When Caleb points out that he has no interest in pursuing a friendship with Alison, Livvie apologizes for having given him an ultimatum and for mistreating the woman she had formerly perceived as a rival. “Me telling you who you can and can’t be friends with, now that’s not very fair of me, is it?” she muses. “Ever since we had our little tiff, I’ve been thinking, and maybe you are right. Maybe I have been a little bit hard on poor Alison. . . . She has been through a lot, you know, and I have to admit, a lot of it was my fault. . . . Maybe I should, you know, give her some more time, some time to change and come around. I’m just hoping that she would accept this and I’m totally willing to put forth the effort if she is. . . . Would that make you happy, Sweetie?” she asks him. |

| “You want to give Alison a second chance or a third chance, as many chances as you want, be my guest,” he replies. |

| “Well, it’s only right,” Livvie continues in her apple-pie-sweet voice. “She really hasn’t done any harm. You agree, don’t you?”
“Yeah,” he sneers sardonically. “She and I want to take a walk in the sunset, you wouldn’t have a problem with that? You wouldn’t be, maybe, oh, I don’t know, jealous?” “No, absolutely not,” she affirms. “That would be totally awesome. . . . You and Alison have never given me a reason to ever be jealous.” |

| “Oh, what the hell, I’ll play along,” Caleb sighs, realizing perhaps that Livvie’s abrupt personality shift might reap some fun rewards. “At least for one night. It might be a nice change of pace. Come here,” he says, kissing her. “Make love to me,” she purrs. “Are you sure we don’t have a PTA meeting or something to go to?” he gibes. |
