| "The Gift" #5 (cont.) “You know,” Caleb smiles slyly, acknowledging Rafe’s sarcasm. “Something tells me you didn’t invite me up here to admire the view.” |

| “Well, it’s just standing up here, it all really hits you, you know,” Rafe muses. “Port Charles is actually a lot smaller than when you are down there living in it. Come on, you know the old saying ‘this town isn’t big enough for the both of us.’”
“I like it here, too, Rafe,” Caleb remarks pointedly. “No plans on leaving.” “Well, neither have I,” Rafe counters. “Well,” Caleb sighs, turning to leave. “Since we’ve settled that, I’ll see you around.” “Aren’t you tired of this same endless battle that neither one of us is ever going to win?” Rafe interjects, ignoring Caleb’s attempt to end their conversation. “You have a better idea?” Caleb mutters. “Well, as a matter of fact, I do,” Rafe replies. “A truce.” “I seem to recall that you were the one that declared an end to our ceasefire,” Caleb reminds him. “Now what would change your mind?” “Well,” Rafe clears his throat. “I’m just tired of the battle.” “Oh, I don’t think so,” Caleb says skeptically. “No, the old balance of power . . . I believe you think somehow sifted in your favor. Now what would give you that idea?” |

| “Well, you tell me,” Rafe evades. “I have no idea what you’re talking about.”
“I’ll tell you,” Caleb retorts. “Nothing makes you more agreeable than you thinking you pulled one over on me. The ring.” |

| “Right, the ring,” Rafe sneers derisively. “Well, I still don’t have your damn ring. That’s not why we’re here.”
“Why are we here?” Caleb, growing irritable, demands. |
