“Well, what am I supposed to think?” she whines.  “Somehow it always comes back to Alison.”

“When are you going to trust me when I say she means nothing to me and you are everything?” he emphasizes, then explains that “playing the cheesy fashion show is the next step in getting the ring back.”
“Does this anything to do with what happened to you in the woods, in the fire?” she asks.  “You didn’t quite tell me what happened.”

“It was my father’s voice,” Caleb relates , recalling his journey to Hell.  “And it validated much of what I already knew.  The music is the key to getting what I want.  It draws people to me. . . . So that’s what I’m going to do.  I’m going to draw the holder of the ring right into our arms.”
“So this is what you were planning all along!” she exclaims.  “Why didn’t you tell me? There’s more, isn’t there?”

“There is more,” he confides.  He places his head down upon the table, gazing up at her with a mischievous grin. “I was also reminded of how generous I have been lately to these mortals.  Sound familiar?”

“Yeah, it does,” she smiles, glad to discover that Caleb’s father shared her views regarding Caleb’s rather lenient interactions with mortals.  “I think I’ve said the same thing to you.”
