| "Tempted" Episodes 17-17 (cont.) Taunting Livvie with memories of their sensual bliss, Caleb tells her to “think back” to the times she pretends to forget. “Did my touch not feel real?” he questions. “My breath on your neck? My body next to yours?” “No. No!” Livvie cries in angry denial. “What I feel for Jack is real!” “But that can change,” Caleb suggests. “No!” Livvie yells in defiance. “It can,” he replies calmly. “And it will . . . for all the loving couples who tried to destroy me. . . . It’s already begun. They’re starting to break apart as we speak.” “No. No! That’s crazy!” Livvie shouts, as if clinging to her belief in permanent human bonds will safeguard her precarious sanity. “Just watch, Olivia,” he responds. “This time, there’s no one to stop me.” “You think you can make everybody fall out of love? Well, you’re wrong! I won’t invite you in again,” she vows. “I won’t come back to the catacombs. I won’t . . . '' “Won’t what? Dream about being in my arms?” Caleb teases. “No. I won’t let myself,” Livvie insists, inadvertently revealing that she does dream of being in his arms. “I do admire your spirit, my love,” Caleb says seductively. “But you can’t convince me that somewhere deep down inside you don’t still feel it, that connection, what you and I shared.” “No, I feel nothing for you,” she replies. “Good bye.” “You can’t leave, can you?” Caleb taunts as she clutches her head in her hands, trying to block out the visions of Caleb with her at the Villa, their bodies merging in rapture. “Because you do remember how it felt when we were together, the way I would kiss you, touch you, make love to you all night, make you feel things that you had never felt before, then afterward hold you close in my arms.” “No, stop!” she sobs. “Our bodies wrapped tightly around,” he continues. “Stop!” she repeats. “I can’t listen to this. I have to go.” “Not yet,” he says. “Not until I see you.” “What are you talking about? What do you want from me?” Livvie whines, bewildered and defeated. “I want you to make love to me,” he murmurs. “I want you, Olivia. I want you so much.” |
